About The Position

Competently performs complete echocardiographic studies integrating all cardiac echo imaging modalities and procedures necessary to obtain all pertinent patient data. Documents patient data and echo exam information completely and accurately utilizing the Echo Information Management System and other necessary computer applications. Functions independently while using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to obtain a comprehensive echocardiogram. Collaborates with Lead Cardiac Sonographers, Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Echocardiographers, Physicians, and other team members to assist in interpretation of echocardiographic findings. Assists in the orientation, training, and education of all levels of trainees, students, and visitors assigned to Cardiovascular Services. Expectations extend to includes stress lab and stress echo lab procedures, outreach, on-call practices, weekends, evenings, and holiday coverage as needed. The Cardiac Sonographer is available for 24-hour call within a 30-minute response time required. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality care appropriately to the age of the patient included neonate to geriatric patient populations. Demonstrates flexibility in learning all equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures. Must understand sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques and must exercise proper precautions to avoid potential exposures to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments. Is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate competencies list. Must be able to tolerate frequent walking, standing, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to reach above shoulder level and endure occasional twisting and turning. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing. Must be able to hear at ordinary conversation level, and possess good visual acuity.
