Requirements

  • BS or BA degree in Exercise Physiology required
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of: anatomy, physiology, and pathology of heart disease and pulmonary systems; exercise implications for cardiovascular and pulmonary systems; cardiac and pulmonary risk factor modification; vitals such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and blood sugar levels.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effects of exercise and ability to modify program as needed for each individual. Has basic knowledge of nutrition, risk factors and behavior modification strategies.
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Current ACLS certification required
  • If not currently certified upon hire, the employee will have 60 days from start date to become certified.
  • Education/Training in EKG reading required.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Previous experience (1+ year) in a similar setting preferred
  • ACSM Exercise Specialist preferred
  • Previous work experience in a cardiac/pulmonary setting is desirable, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluation, treatment planning, and treatment implementation to adult and geriatric clients; addresses individual developmental, cognitive and physical needs, as well as cultural differences.
  • Coordinates client care with other disciplines through good communication and intervention recommendations.
  • Provides education, information, and training to clients, family, caregivers, and community to promote continuity of care, optimum therapeutic outcome, healthy lifestyle and community health.
  • Maintains documentation and records of treatment performance to assure quality client care, meet regulatory and professional standards, and receive optimal reimbursement.
  • Acts as a consultant to internal and external customers.
  • Maintains education, knowledge, and training required to provide up-to-date, quality care to meet client case load and community needs and meet minimum state licensure requirements.
  • Participates in quality improvement and peer review to assure effective and efficient services.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
