About The Position

GENERAL OVERVIEW Performs continuous observation, identification of changes in rhythms and rates. and communication of cardiac rhythms for cardiology patients under the supervision of the RN.

Requirements

• Minimum BLS Certification required within facility policy
• Basic cardiac dysrhythmia training or successful completion of a cardiac dysrhythmia training course upon hire is required.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

• Accurately identifies rhythm and rate changes and communicates to RN.
• Prints ECG strips for interpretation by RN.
• Maintains continuous assessment of ECG rhythm at central monitor and during patient transport.
• Identifies changes and responds or reports to the RN as appropriate.
• Demonstrates knowledge of central station and bedside monitors.
• Ensures alarms are maintained at appropriate levels and settings.
• Cleans and maintains telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge.
• Performs other unit specific duties such as video monitoring, order entry and answering phones.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
