About The Position

The position involves continuous observation, interpretation, and communication of cardiac rhythms for cardiology patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The role is critical in ensuring patient safety and effective monitoring of cardiac health.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic cardiac dysrhythmia training or successful completion of a cardiac dysrhythmia training course upon hire.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

  • EMS, CMA diploma/training/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately analyzes, interprets and records ECG rhythms according to procedure.
  • Maintains continuous assessment of ECG rhythm at central monitor and during patient transport. Identifies changes and responds or reports to the RN as appropriate.
  • Cleans and maintains the telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of central station and bedside monitors. Ensures alarms are maintained at appropriate levels and settings.
  • Performs other unit specific duties such as video monitoring, order entry and answering phones.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
