About The Position

The University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank Campus is seeking a passionate and hardworking Nursing Monitor Technician to join its 38-bed Cardiology unit. This unit specializes in caring for patients with various heart conditions, including heart and lung transplants, post-surgical care, chest pains, heart failures, and rhythm issues. This is a part-time position (.6FTE, 48 hours per 2-week pay period) involving 12-hour overnight shifts (7:00pm-7:30am) with an every third weekend rotation.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support
• Basic ECG training, reading and interpretation at time of hire or within 30 days OR NST for minimum of one year on Cardiac Telemetry PCU OR Nursing Student with successful completion of one year
• Successful completion of Basic ECG interpretation class within 30 days of hire and annual ECG test

Nice To Haves

• Completion of formal Medical Assistant, EMT, Nursing Assistant or other formal health science education program
• 1+ years related health care experience
• Formal ECG training
• ECG Certification

Responsibilities

• Observing and monitoring a central bank of patient information related to EKGs, oxygen saturation, and BP's
• Timely communication to RN if there are any changes in these parameters
• Assisting in the delivery of patient care, including personal hygiene and daily activities (under the direction of a nurse)
• Transporting patients and equipment (under the direction of a nurse)
• Setting up and maintaining patient rooms (under the direction of a nurse)
• Reordering and stocking supplies (under the direction of a nurse)
