About The Position

The Cardiac Monitoring and Interpreting Technician position at Mayo Clinic involves supporting the Stress Labs on the Rochester campus. This role includes providing surveillance, analysis, synthesis, and preliminary interpretation of patients' heart rhythm patterns and physiological parameters during various states such as rest, exercise, or medication administration. The technician will deliver direct patient care across diverse patient populations and must possess a working knowledge of monitoring/testing devices, equipment calibration, and troubleshooting equipment failures. Responsibilities also encompass preparing patients and equipment for testing, assessing the appropriate type of testing, providing patient education, and accurately recording physiological data and preliminary interpretations in multiple reporting systems. Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team is essential, particularly in communicating abnormal or critical physiological responses and activating medical emergency response plans.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare or residential care setting, or Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) Certification, or Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT), or Bachelor's degree.
  • Direct patient care experience or currently in a nursing or other health care program preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of ECG interpretation, cardiac terminology, and cardiac medications preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Stress Labs on the Mayo Clinic Rochester campus.
  • Provide surveillance, analysis, synthesis, and preliminary interpretation of patients' heart rhythm patterns and physiological parameters.
  • Deliver direct patient care for a variety of patient populations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of various monitoring/testing devices and systems.
  • Calibrate equipment and troubleshoot equipment failures.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for testing and/or monitoring.
  • Assess for appropriate type of testing/monitoring.
  • Provide patient education on procedures.
  • Accurately record physiological data and preliminary interpretations in multiple reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and communicate abnormal or critical physiological responses.
