About The Position

Your job is more than a job The Cardiac Monitor Technician is responsible for observing the central cardiac monitor display, documenting and reporting rhythms. Ensures reporting equipment problems, maintaining supplies and workstation as necessary. GENERAL DUTIES Performs cardiac monitoring by continuously observing the monitor screen for proper waveform on each telemetry patient, prevent the loss of signal and to ensure accurate capture of potential cardiac events. Assigns the telemetry transmitter to the patient, assists the staff in establishing/maintaining electrode placement using proper skin preparation and electrode placement. Selects the lead for monitoring and insures an acceptable tracing for monitoring purposes. Ensures battery function/replaces batteries as necessary. Identifies and notifies the nursing staff of baseline cardiac rate and rhythm and documents with a rhythm strip. Investigates loss of signal or apparent lead disconnection with the nursing staff in a prompt manner. Provides continuous surveillance of the cardiac rhythm and in accordance with the algorithm established in the central monitoring policy. Notifies the staff nurse of a rhythm change, activates the rapid response or code blue team, as indicated. Maintains rhythm strips, monitoring logs in accordance with the central cardiac monitoring policy and as evidence by random audits of the logbooks. Performs EKG interpretation by analyzing, recording atrial and ventricular rates and rhythms. Participates in unit initiatives and quality improvement as evidenced by attendance at staff meetings and verbalizing understanding of unit initiatives. Answers phones in a timely manner as evidenced by lack of staff, patient and visitor complaints and direct observation. LCMC Health is a community. Our people make health happen. Requirements

  • 1 year of experience as a Monitor Technician (NOEH/TOURO/UMC)
  • Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent (NOEH/TOURO/UMC)
  • Certification Name: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider
  • Issuer: American Heart Association
  • Licensure Speciality: Training
  • Certification Entity: NOEH/TOURO/UMC
