About The Position

The Cardiac Invasive Lab Tech performs multiple roles within the cardiac laboratory, including assisting physician(s) with invasive cardiac laboratory procedures and conducting various cardiac tests to monitor patients' heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment. Responsibilities may also include: preparing procedure rooms, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining and recording patient information, assisting physicians in procedure by circulating and scrubbing procedures, X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency, acquire/measure/calculate hemodynamic data, performing blood work analysis, operate intracardiac ultrasound, clean procedure rooms, and preparing instruments for resterilization. Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff and patients. Independently functions during diagnostic and interventions with minimal supervision. Maintains a high level of expertise in specialty procedures within their assigned lab. Within the Cath Lab this may include structural procedures and hemodynamics; within Heart Rhythm Services Lab, techs perform device and electrophysiology procedures (EP), hybrid extractions, and operate 3D mapping systems. Will be required to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology or radiography program
  • Transitioning from a Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) role with successful completion of CCI exam for RCIS or RCES certification
  • At least one (1) year of vascular or cardiovascular lab experience preferred
  • RCIS or RCES certification required through CCI within 18 months of hire
  • If a Rad Tech, must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Must pass either Advanced Cardiac-Interventional exam or RCIS/RCES exam within 18 months of hire
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
