The Cardiac Invasive Lab Tech performs multiple roles within the cardiac laboratory, including assisting physician(s) with invasive cardiac laboratory procedures and conducting various cardiac tests to monitor patients' heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment. Responsibilities may also include: preparing procedure rooms, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining and recording patient information, assisting physicians in procedure by circulating and scrubbing procedures, X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency, acquire/measure/calculate hemodynamic data, performing blood work analysis, operate intracardiac ultrasound, clean procedure rooms, and preparing instruments for resterilization. Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff and patients. Independently functions during diagnostic and interventions with minimal supervision. Maintains a high level of expertise in specialty procedures within their assigned lab. Within the Cath Lab this may include structural procedurals and hemodynamics; within Heart Rhythm Services Lab, techs perform device and electrophysiology procedures (EP), hybrid extractions, and operate 3D mapping systems. Will be required to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology or radiography program.
  • Must have successfully passed the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) exam to become a certified Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • RCIS or RCES certification required through CCI within 18 months of hire into position.
  • At least one (1) year vascular or cardiovascular lab experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pediatric, adult, and congenital specialty procedures.
  • Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and make sound decisions under pressure.
