About The Position

Interviews patients to obtain vital statistics, medical history and records information. Records blood pressures, observes patient's condition, observes monitor for indications of positive tests or other complications. Performs pulse oximetry recognizing variation in methods and testing parameters required for various age groups. Monitors and records heart activity, using telemetry, while patient undergoes exercise on rehab equipment, under physician's supervision. Assess body composition using scale, tape measure, skinfold calipers or other techniques. Explains program and test procedures to patients. Develops proficiency in operating exercise testing system. Evaluate patients overall health, with special attention to cardiovascular function and metabolism. Designs individualized exercise plans, based on patients’ needs and goals. Advises patients about nutrition, risk reduction, and ongoing exercise regimens. Teaches patient education and behavior modification classes. Follows department procedures for responding to cardiac arrests. Attends and participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, and other activities as related to job performance and job knowledge. Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Cape Cod Hospital’s commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science.
  • Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam within 3 months of position.
  • Certified in BLS.
  • Documentation of Specialist Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in adult fitness or cardiac rehabilitation preferred.
