About The Position

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking a full-time (40 hour week daytime/weekend days only) echocardiography technologist to join the cardiac care team! Come join a nationally accredited (IAC) lab with a friendly, experienced, team oriented group of technologists, cardiology fellows and attending cardiologists to make a difference in the lives of heart patients through cardiac testing.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Successful completion of a formal training program in diagnostic cardiac sonography.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate preferred.
• 2 years of recent cardiac sonography experience or comparable training/experience.
• Fundamental computer skills and keyboard familiarity.
• Able to speak and write English fluently.
• Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs echocardiography which involves the ability to distinguish various cardiac structures and determine the quality of the tracings obtained.
• Performs advanced tests, such as 2-D, 3D, strain and M-mode echocardiograms and Doppler studies and occasional use of echo contrast under supervision of a MD.
• May perform other non-invasive cardiological tests, such as exercise/stress testing, stress echo, dobutamine stress echo, and Optison Stress.
• Obtain pertinent clinical information to help generate cardiology reports for review.
• Responds calmly and effectively to cardiovascular emergencies that may occur during testing.
• Helps to set up and maintain the Echocardiological Laboratory.
• Help occasionally with receiving calls, patients and queries skillfully.
• Responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiograms, testing and completion of reports.
• May also perform other non-invasive cardiac diagnostic tests (stress tests and electrocardiograms) as identified by competency skills assessment.
