About The Position

As a Monitor Technician in the Heart Rhythm/Device Department, you'll work closely with the team lead and manager to ensure efficient patient flow for holter and event monitoring services. Your role includes technical and administrative support, performing ECGs, and holter/event monitor setups as required. Critical to this position is the ability to identify cardiac dysrhythmias, conduct monitor scanning, editing, and report preparation for provider review, contributing significantly to patient care and clinic operations. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, with at least six months of relevant experience or training.
  • Must demonstrate basic and advanced ECG recognition skills. Prior device tech, monitor, or telemetry tech training is necessary.
  • Certification as a Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) is required within two years of hire, plus current CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operating as a monitor technician, under supervision, for device monitoring tasks.
  • Hooking up patients to Holter/Event Monitors and instructing on their use.
  • Monitoring alerts from various cardiac monitors and notifying medical staff of abnormalities.
  • Scanning and reviewing monitor downloads for irregularities and creating reports for providers.
  • Documenting all patient interactions and relevant data in the EMR system.
  • Assisting with the billing process for monitoring services.
  • Managing monitor equipment inventory, maintenance, and staff training on device usage.
  • Supporting various clinic locations as needed and participating in educational programs.
