About The Position

Under general supervision, the position involves creating, manipulating, enhancing, and storing/recording analog and digital radiographic images that visualize areas of interest involved in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures and examinations. The role also includes performing a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited educational program in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology approved by the American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology.
  • Completion of a formal or in-house training program in radiographic special procedures and cardiovascular procedures/exams.
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California).
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and utilize the principles, theories, practices, and techniques of radiological technology including special procedures.
  • Radiologic technology special procedures experience.
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience (may be at the discretion of the department).

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS & PALS required.
  • Experience in Cardiac Cath Lab & Electrophysiology procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
  • Patient Education - Explains test procedures and purpose.
  • Patient Preparation - Prepares patients for Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Interventional procedures including site assessment, sterile field, and monitoring device preparation.
  • Procedural Assistance - Assists physician in adult and pediatric Cardiovascular radiographic procedures and exams including Diagnostic Procedures and Imaging.
  • Patient Monitoring - Monitors hemodynamic and patient status.
  • Emergency Response - Responds and assists in STAT requests, emergencies, and Code Blue situations.
  • Complies with Regulatory, Hospital and Departmental policy, procedure and/or regulation.
  • Complies with Radiation, Safety and Infection Control guidelines.
  • Maintains a clean working environment and proper disposal of specimen and/or waste material.
  • Performs radiographic sensitometry and dosimetry measurements to ensure proper settings.
  • Maintains processor and chemicals, develops cine film, and performs digital image processing.
  • Transports patients to and from procedure areas.
  • Assists in obtaining and preparing samples and specimens for lab analysis.
  • Restocks working areas with supplies, devices, and equipment.
  • Completes documentation of records, logs, files, and forms.
  • Performs accurate measurements and calculations on related radiographic and patient data.
  • Participates in QM data collection as requested.
  • Notifies immediate supervisor of variances.
  • Provides orientation and training to new and/or less experienced personnel.
  • Participates in Hospital and departmental meetings and in-services as required.
  • Maintains current and required licensure and certificates.
  • Serves as a resource person to co-workers, problem solves, and effectively communicates.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
