About The Position

As a Cath Tech at Michigan Medicine, you will deliver exceptional care in a nationally recognized as a top ten cardiovascular center year after year. The role includes monitoring, circulating, and scrubbing on a patient population with known or suspected congenital or acquired cardiac and peripheral disease. Requirements

  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Understands and demonstrates the core concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC), including: Respect and Dignity, Information Sharing, Participation, and Collaboration.
  • In addition, it's required that you have 1 of the 3 following qualifications: 1. RCIS certification or must be eligible for RCIS exam as a graduate of an accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology with the RCIS exam being successfully completed within one year of hire. 2. OR Candidate has obtained an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification for Radiography with at least 1-2 years of diagnostic general imaging experience and (ARRT) advanced certification for Cardiac Interventional (CI) is required within 2 years of hire. 3. OR Candidate is a graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to: cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic/EMT) with the RCIS exam being successfully completed within two years of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with interventional and structural heart procedures, surgical instruments, and sterile technique.
  • Existing ARRT with advanced certification for CV, VI
  • Existing RCIS certification

Responsibilities

  • You will participate in research protocols, while also having a role in peer to peer teaching and/or in-servicing.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills
  • You will perform technically difficult emergency care including these procedures: Emergent PCI, LVAD & RVAD placement, IntraAortic Balloon Pump use, and thrombectomy once proper orientation is completed. Other tools such as Optical Coherence Tomography, Intravascular Ultrasounds, Fractional Flow Reserve and atherectomy will also be utilized after additional training.
  • Once proper orientation is completed; you will successfully perform in structural heart procedures.
