About The Position

Beacon Health System is hiring a full-time Day Cardiac Cath Technologist for our Cardiac Cath Lab at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. We are excited to announce new pay options that value our Cath Lab Techs. Both full-time and part-time (24 hours per week) Cath Lab Techs are eligible for premium pay. What You'll Do As a Cardiac Cath Technologist, you'll report to the Coordinator/Director. You will operate basic radiologic equipment, determining the quality and quantity of ionizing radiation to make quality radiographs on injured and/or sick patients, following accepted policies and procedures, under the direction of Radiologists. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Professional Training.
  • AART and ISBH General Certifications are required.
  • Interventional Registry required.
  • As a Cardiac Cath Tech you bring a thorough knowledge of cardiac and/or vascular procedures and respective radiographic operations.
  • You demonstrate the analytical skills necessary to monitor test procedures and results to detect equipment malfunctions and improper techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of experience as a Special Procedures Radiographer desired
  • Two to five years of experience as a Staff Radiographer, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients using aseptic techniques; connects monitoring systems (SAT, NIBP).
  • Educates patients and families about procedures.
  • Sets up and calibrates radiologic equipment; prepares trays, solutions, and medications.
  • Adjusts imaging equipment per physician direction; troubleshoots equipment and archiving systems.
  • Ensures radiation safety and assists with annual equipment testing.
  • Maintains sterile environment and cleans rooms to prevent contamination.
  • Applies sterile techniques and handles supplies appropriately.
  • Injects contrast/medications; aspirates and flushes catheters and sheaths.
  • Documents procedures and patient assessments; interprets cardiac rhythms.
  • Understands cardiac/vascular medications and dosages.
  • Troubleshoots monitors; gathers and maintains patient data.
  • Removes lines and achieves hemostasis; monitors vitals.
  • Assists unstable patients and escorts/transfers patients as needed.
  • Cleans labs post-procedure.
  • Performs clerical tasks; completes annual competencies.
  • Maintains documentation and trains new staff/students.
  • Manages inventory and restocks supplies.
  • Supports room turnover and lab cleaning.
  • Handles other duties and special projects as assigned.
