The Cath Lab Technician operates all cath lab equipment and digital processing equipment, performing essential duties such as scrub assistant and X-ray equipment operation. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of the cath lab, which includes responsibilities like picking up and stocking supplies, as well as maintaining an orderly work area. The technician must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the principles of growth and development to effectively perform procedures and assist in the care of patients across various age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. A current state-issued Radiology Technology license is mandatory prior to employment, and candidates may specialize in various modalities such as Diagnostic Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Peripheral Angiography, Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, and Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator Implantation. The technician is also responsible for assuring the quality and acquisition of cardiac cath digital images, positioning the cath lab table, and setting angles to optimize imaging results.
