About The Position

Assists physicians and the cardiovascular team during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role focuses on sterile field management, instrumentation handling, equipment preparation, and procedural support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required and successful completion of College Anatomy and Physiology I course preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training required.
  • Must be efficient in the use of all office equipment and related material essential to good patient care, scrub procedures, imaging exams, processed film or files and reports any problems.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Is able to stand, walk, kneel, sit, crouch or stoop with good balance for extended periods of time, exposed to patient elements.
  • Includes possible exposure to human body fluids, disease, infection, lab chemicals and hazardous materials and/or cleaning solutions
  • Requires wearing of common protective and safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, mask, gowns, etc.
  • Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects/patients. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for medium work.
  • Physical presence onsite is essential.
  • Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.
  • Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of equipment, demonstrating knowledge, and application of principles related to instructions for use.
  • Utilizes knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique in assisting with procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of patients of all procedures including and setting up sterile trays, scrub role training, monitor tech training and all duties required to assist physician.
  • Performs responsibilities related to departmental charging of procedures and supplies.
  • Participates in direct patient care; is observant of symptoms and reactions of patients and escalates.
  • Assists with scheduled and unscheduled procedures. Sets up and cleans up after each case.
  • Assist with transportation of patients as needed.
  • Follows safety practices and helps to maintain a safe, clean environment.
  • Attends in-service programs, required training/education and unit/departmental meetings.
  • Any job assignment requiring call during off duty hours becomes part of that duty and will be compensated as is customary for the hospital.
  • Proficiently functions in the specified areas with little or no supervision.
  • Works with manager/supervisor/staff to control inventory. Communicates problems and needs as required.
  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
  • Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.
  • Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
