Varied hours based on department needs; Call required Job Description: On-call responsibilities: minimum twice per month and regualr scheduled weekday shifts twice per month. Duties/Responsibilities Assess physical, mental, and psychosocial status of patient using age-appropriate knowledge. Plans, evaluates and supervises care of all patients assigned. Participates in working towards and fulfilling the charge nurse roll. Works collaboratively with other disciplines in care of patients. Competent to be the primary RN in the various cardiovascular tests/procedures done within the department. Participates in formal and informal educational programs to improve technical skills. Responsible for continued learning and application to practice. Synthesizes patient care information to formulate appropriate nursing diagnosis. Responsible to provide patient and family education. Work practice reflects philosophy purpose and policies of the hospital and department. Explain procedure to patient (and family, if appropriate). Prepare patient for test. Participates in pre, intra and post procedural monitoring (VS, EKG’s, hemodynamics). Reinforces instructions given by M.D. Competent to administer moderate sedation. Identifies possible medication reactions and responds appropriately. Assures that equipment and supplies are available as needed. Assists in booking tests/procedures. Participates in pre procedural process which may include but not be limited to chart preparation and telephone interview of the patient.
