About The Position

The Cardiac and Vascular Sonographer will interact and communicate effectively with healthcare providers, including other Sonographers, Physicians, and Nurses. The role requires being well-versed in Medical Terminology and capable of explaining the purpose of the Echocardiographic examination to patients while answering their questions. The Sonographer must be aware of proper infection control procedures and comply with relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and privacy. Competence in first aid and certification in Basic Life Support is required. The Sonographer will perform 2D echo with color flow Doppler exams in 45 minutes or less, demonstrating good judgment regarding the use of echo contrast. Responsibilities include consistent patient preparation, following exam protocols, performing clinical assessments, and communicating findings to the appropriate provider. The Sonographer will also maintain ultrasound equipment, coordinate work schedules, and participate in laboratory accreditation maintenance.

Requirements

  • Certification in Vascular and Echo ARDMS and/or CCI certifications.
  • Completion of Ultrasound Technology Training at an accredited school.
  • Certification as an Ultrasound Technician (or equivalent) with 1+ years’ experience in a diagnostic facility or hospital.
  • Good knowledge of Ultrasound equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to be screened for TB.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MS Outlook and basic computer knowledge.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Interact and communicate effectively with healthcare providers.

  • Perform clinical assessments and cardiac sonography examinations.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record anatomical and pathological information.
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to the appropriate provider.
  • Prepare preliminary reports and contact referring providers as required.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and report failures.
  • Participate in laboratory accreditation maintenance.
  • Establish ethical working relationships with interrelating facilities.
  • Provide in-service training to other staff members as requested.
