About The Position

The Cardboard Baler Technician is responsible for placing cardboard, plastic wrap and plastic straps in appropriate baler or collection point; operating baling equipment to compact cardboard and related recyclable materials; creating and wire tying bales; and maintaining a safe work area, including rollers. This role plays an important part in keeping facilities organized and compliant with recycling and waste management guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Physically able to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods with a minimum of 4 hours
  • Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods
  • Industrial/warehouse setting
  • Exposure to dust and noise levels
  • PPE required (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, safety-toe shoes)
  • All employees must adhere to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This includes following safety protocols, maintaining environmental responsibility, and upholding quality standards in all tasks. Employees are expected to actively participate in HSEQ training and report any potential hazards or compliance concerns.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or facilities role is an asset (training provided)
  • Previous experience with wire-tying bales preferred
  • Previous experience in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Places cardboard, plastic wrap, and plastic straps in the appropriate baler or collection point
  • Operates the baling machine and related equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area around the baler
  • Follows all safety procedures and wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Inspects baling equipment and promptly reports any malfunctions or maintenance needs
  • Locks out/Tags out (LOTO) baler in order to perform technical cleaning of the machine and rollers
  • Communicates with supervisors and other related personnel as needed
