About The Position

Plateau is a rapidly growing information technology company specializing in data analytics, customer engagement, IT support, and knowledge management in the Greater Washington DC area. We are seeking a Capture Analyst with proven federal government contracting experience to support our aggressive growth strategy. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives on research, relationship-building, and structured process execution to help Plateau win new business across our target federal accounts.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in federal government contracting, with direct involvement in capture, business development, or competitive intelligence functions.
  • Familiarity with the federal procurement lifecycle, including pre-solicitation activities, RFP release, and award phases.
  • Experience conducting direct outreach to subject matter experts, prospective candidates, and government stakeholders for intelligence-gathering and relationship-building purposes.
  • Proficiency with federal contracting research tools (SAM.gov, FPDS, USASpending, or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize research findings into clear, actionable briefs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to follow and execute a structured, repeatable capture process with minimal supervision.
  • Plateau will sponsor a DoD security clearance for the right candidate. Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain any required level of government clearance (this requires US Citizenship)

  • Experience supporting Army or Department of Defense opportunities preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct opportunity assessments to evaluate fit, competitive landscape, and strategic alignment for potential pursuits.
  • Execute structured capture activities following Plateau's standardized capture process, including research, engagement, and milestone documentation.
  • Gather competitive intelligence through engagement with subject matter experts, prospective talent with relevant program knowledge, and industry partners with visibility into target opportunities.
  • Engage government representatives, contracting officers, and program managers to build relationships and understand requirements ahead of solicitation release.
  • Research opportunities using tools such as SAM.gov, FPDS, USASpending, customer forecasts, and internal pipeline databases.
  • Maintain accurate and current opportunity records in the pipeline, capturing key intelligence, contact history, and pursuit status.
  • Support teaming strategy development by identifying potential partners and gathering information on competitor positioning.
  • Assist in the preparation of capture artifacts including call plans, opportunity briefs, competitive assessments, and gate review packages.
  • Coordinate with proposal teams to ensure smooth handoff of capture intelligence at RFP release.
  • Assist in continuous improvement of capture and business development processes and tools.
