About The Position

Large national privately held property & casualty brokerage and employee benefits consulting firm, and it’s affiliated entities, is looking to grow its captive insurance/alternative risk practice. We are seeking candidates with preferably 10 plus years working in the captive/alternative risk space for either a captive management firm, brokerage operation and/or captive consulting firm. Experience in both property & casualty and employee benefits preferred, in either a sales or servicing capacity. Knowledge and/or experience with fronting programs and reinsurance transactions a plus. The position will report directly to the company’s Alternative Risk practice leader and interact with senior management, producers, and account executives. The qualified candidate will be self- motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit, but with the willingness and ability to work in a team environment.

Requirements

  • New Business Development capabilities and Client Service Expertise:
  • Ability to assist with bringing in new clients as well as service and retain
  • Strategic Marketing and Product Distribution Knowledge: Development of marketing plans and implementation of these strategies to effectively assist with bringing in new clients and revenue. Focus primarily in the alternative insurance marketplace where the products are more “financial” and “complex” in nature.
  • Ability to successfully learn new products as well as educate the end buyer on the benefits and challenges of each product.
  • Management: Experience in the management oversight of captive insurance companies in various US and offshore domiciles
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without Company
  • Property & Casualty Producer License
  • ARM, CIC, CPCU and other specialized designations as appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Support Alternative Risk/ Captive practice leader on all day-to day operations of the group and interact with multiple levels of management daily.
  • Analyze claims and premium data to prepare captive financial pro-formas for various types of captive opportunities for clients and prospects, including group captives, single parent captives, and other types of risk financing facilities
  • Explain (have some familiarity) with a company’s balance sheet, statements of income and cash flows, along with understanding solvency metrics a plus, and deliver to clients and
  • Assist producers (sales staff) on new business opportunities and support account executive (and captive practice leader) on annual insurance renewals where a captive or alternative risk program is in place; coordinate with other team members to deliver renewal submissions to the markets (captive & traditional) in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and deliver captive 101 presentations and present both internally to company staff as well as to clients and prospects; these presentations can include both property & casualty and employee benefit (medical stop loss) opportunities.
  • Attend and participate in captive board meetings, as needed, risk control workshops (property & casualty), wellness workshops (benefits), and other meetings as needed.
  • Stay on top of all captive related market conditions and new products, including knowledge of domiciles (on & off-shore).
  • Assist the captive practice leader in the coordination, selection, and management of third-party service providers to include (but not limited to): captive managers, actuaries, tax/audit professionals, and other captive consultants.
  • Oversee the pre-feasibility and feasibility study process and work with actuaries and other third party providers to deliver formal captive proposal to clients and prospects, for both single parent captive and group captive programs.
  • Assist in the development in new product offerings by the company for the benefit of clients and
  • Participate and contribute in both internal and external (client facing) captive educational sessions and be a member of the company’s captive practice group consisting of others within the firm sharing ideas of captive growth and development.
  • Assist with development, sales, and servicing of alternative risk programs such as fronting programs, integrated risk programs, parametric insurance solutions, and other non-traditional products.
