About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Division Chief of Fire Operations, the Fire Captain (Captain) is charged with the responsibilities of participating in firefighting/EMS and responding to other emergency and nonemergency requests. The Captain also supervises and leads the day-to-day activity of the firefighting crew. As an officer, the Captain supports the direction of the district and the decisions of the Chief Officers. The Captain is the crew leader; thus, is responsible for creating a positive culture and a productive and professional environment as well as a safe work environment.

DFPC or Accredited Fire Instructor 1
DFPC or Accredited Fire Officer 1
DFPC or Accredited Fire Officer 2
DFPC or Accredited Hazmat Operations
DFPC or Accredited Driver Operator
CO or National Register EMT-Basic
NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400,700, 800
NWCG 130/190/L-180 with Red Card
NWCG FFT1/ICT5
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to complete the Work Capacity Test at the Arduous Level (Pack Test)
Valid Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT)
Valid FireTEAM test score through the National Testing Network
Strong decision-making skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
