Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • 2-3 years experience as a server.
  • ServSafe Food Handling Certification.
  • TIPs training and TABC card (State of Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission server permit).
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Cash handling skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel data.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service.
  • Previous culinary training.
  • Fluency in a second language.
  • Certification in an alcoholic awareness program.
  • Certification in CPR.
  • Previous guest relations training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
  • Maintain positive guest and associate relations at all times.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, and proper table set-up.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections.
  • Maintain knowledge of the characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation methods, and quality standards.
  • Abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors and intoxicated persons.
  • Complete opening side duties as assigned, including checking stock and setting up the restaurant.
  • Take guests' food and beverage orders and input them into the system.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Guide the activities of the assigned Busperson to ensure optimum service.
  • Clear each course and reset tables immediately after guest departs.
  • Complete closing side duties and reports as assigned.
