About The Position

The Capital Projects Team Specialist position at the University of Montevallo is designed to be an integral part of the Physical Plant project team, focusing on providing comprehensive renovation services across the campus. This role requires a skilled individual with experience in all phases of construction, particularly in commercial settings, to effectively modify and renovate campus structures while adhering to building code specifications. The specialist will be responsible for creating and adjusting project schedules, calculating labor, time, and materials needed for various projects, and ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard of quality and safety. In addition to project management tasks, the specialist will engage in hands-on work, including the repair and installation of electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and general renovation tasks. This includes remodeling, framing, and restoration work, as well as new construction projects that involve various structural elements such as floors, walls, roofs, and more. The ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings is essential, as is the maintenance of tools and equipment necessary for the electrical trade. The role may also involve operating heavy machinery and supervising team members, ensuring that tasks are clearly assigned and understood. The Capital Projects Team Specialist will also be expected to maintain a professional demeanor, representing the University positively while demonstrating excellent customer service skills. This position is full-time and requires flexibility in working hours, including the possibility of on-call duties and working in various weather conditions.
