About The Position

The Capital Projects & Reliability Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and supporting capital improvement projects while driving equipment reliability and asset performance across the facility. This role bridges project engineering and maintenance reliability to ensure new and existing assets are safe, reliable, cost‑effective, and aligned with business objectives. The Capital Projects & Reliability Engineer is an advanced professional that leads complex capital and reliability initiatives, sets strategy, and serves as a technical authority influencing long‑term asset performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical or related field)
  • 10 years of experience in capital projects. Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Reliability certification – CMRP, CRL, or CPMM
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and the ability to be insurable for AMSOIL INC. vehicles.
  • Experience in capital project execution and/or reliability engineering in an industrial or facilities environment
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and reliability practices (PM, PdM, RCFA)
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills including root cause analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross‑functionally
  • Knowledge of Engineering documentation (P&ID’s, Blue Prints, Schematics) and standards
  • Competent in CAD (AutoCAD, Draftsight, Solidworks)
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards, engineering codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to work within a team is necessary.
  • Competent in complete MS Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with high speed packaging equipment is preferred
  • Professional Engineer PE (preferred).
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support capital projects from concept through design, installation, commissioning, and closeout
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and technical justifications
  • Prepare & present business cases for justification to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Prepare and review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and bid packages
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe and timely execution
  • Manage project risks, change control, and cost tracking
  • Support startup, commissioning, and turnover of new or modified assets to operations and maintenance
  • Develop and support site reliability strategies that improve equipment availability, safety, and asset lifecycle performance
  • Analyze equipment and maintenance data to identify reliability risks, chronic failures, and performance improvement opportunities
  • Lead and support root cause failure analysis (RCFA) efforts and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Apply reliability engineering tools such as FMEA, RCM, and asset criticality analysis to drive risk‑based decision making
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness
  • Support reliability requirements for capital projects, equipment selection, and asset modifications to ensure long‑term performance
  • Track, analyze, and report key reliability performance indicators (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, uptime) to support continuous improvement
  • Apply reliability and maintainability principles during equipment selection and project design
  • Support standardization of equipment, spare parts, and maintenance practices
  • Develop asset strategies addressing lifecycle cost, obsolescence, and replacement planning
  • Ensure proper documentation, asset records, and spare parts lists are established and maintained
  • Ensure all projects and engineering activities comply with safety standards, codes, and regulations
  • Support management of change (MOC) processes for equipment and system modifications
  • Promote safe work practices and contractor safety compliance
  • Ensure engineering solutions meet quality and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with maintenance, operations, process engineering, controls, safety, quality and finance teams
  • Provide technical guidance and reliability expertise to site stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, uptime, cost, energy, and safety
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Communicate with site leaders and local contractors
  • Maintain engineering standards, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Support development and improvement of site engineering and reliability standards
  • Capture lessons learned and best practices from projects and failure investigations
