About The Position

This position provides planning, mentorship, and guidance to Calumet’s NWLA operations facilities to achieve best-in-class capital projects and turnaround performance. Collaborates with internal and external sources to employ best practices, tools, and systems to continually improve both capital projects management guidelines (PMG) and turnaround planning and execution (TP&E) process. Provides leadership in development and improvement as Calumet continues to transition its PMG and TP&E systems into industry-accepted practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of operating and technical experience in refining, lubricants, and/or chemicals manufacturing.
  • Five years or more experience in a supervisory role.
  • Relevant experience in capital project and turnaround manager roles.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of computer and tracking systems used for planning and scheduling.
  • Capability to positively communicate and interact with all levels of management and all plant levels.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to influence key contributors and others in improving process performance.
  • Able to foster a team atmosphere when a team member.
  • Skilled team leader who builds consensus.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Has ability to prioritize.
  • Able to deal with ambiguity.
  • Good overall process technical knowledge.
  • Good judgement and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Turnaround Planning
  • Play a key role in transitioning Calumet to industry-accepted TP&E practices.
  • Work directly with SVP – Asset Transformation and Mechanical Integrity Director in OPEX to improve the tools being used for turnaround planning.
  • Serve on the Shreveport turnaround steering committee as the main facilitator to make sure milestones are being tracked and met.
  • Manage the Cruz Alta turnaround coaches (operations, execution, safety) for the 2026 October ‘Green Block’ turnaround at Shreveport.
  • Implement the Shreveport turnaround model for the following future activities:
  • 1Q27 CDW catalyst changeout
  • October 2027 Shreveport ‘Blue Block’ turnaround
  • October 2027 Princeton plant-wide turnaround
  • 2028 Cotton Valley plant-wide turnaround
  • 2029 Shreveport ‘Green Block’ turnaround
  • Capital Projects
  • Continue adoption and improvement of the PMG process.
  • Use the risk ranking process to assist in identification and prioritization of capital projects via the risk register.
  • Participate in HOP learning events to improve project planning and execution.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the Shreveport capital project manager to assure efficient capital spend in NWLA via good planning and execution.
