The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Capital Project Engineer will be a part of the Engineering team, dedicated to delivering capital projects that enhance facility infrastructure, utilities, production systems, and technology assets. In this role you will manage projects from concept through commissioning. This includes providing technical leadership in design, ensuring safe and compliant execution, and acting as the primary liaison between the contractor, internal stakeholders, and external partners. The Capital Project Engineer will ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Here, you will make an impact by:

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) AND two (2) years of experience in capital project management, process engineering, product engineering and/or manufacturing engineering in a private, public, government or military environment

Nice To Haves

• Five (5) years of experience in capital project management, process engineering, product engineering and/or manufacturing engineering in a private, public, government or military environment
• Demonstrated experience serving as a designated contractor representative on capital or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction management practices, safety programs, and contractor coordination.
• Proficiency with project scheduling and cost control tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
• Subject matter expertise in automated manufacturing equipment processes
• Familiarity with facility systems such as HVAC, utilities, and electrical distribution.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Certification in Project Management (PMP or equivalent).
• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with pharmaceutical, medical device, or other highly regulated industries.

Responsibilities

• Managing capital projects from concept development, design, procurement, and construction through commissioning and turnover.
• Preparing project justifications, scope documents, cost estimates, and schedules to support capital expenditure requests.
• Providing technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, utilities, or facility systems to ensure robust and reliable designs.
• Collaborating with operations, maintenance, EH&S, and quality teams to ensure stakeholder requirements are met.
• Developing bid packages, evaluating vendor proposals, and managing external contractors and consultants.
• Ensuring projects comply with regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements, as well as company standards.
• Managing project documentation including design drawings, equipment specifications, and commissioning protocols.
• Leading and supporting Management of Change (MOC) processes for new systems and modifications.
• Overseeing day-to-day construction management, including contractor supervision, safety compliance, quality control, and schedule adherence.
