About The Position

Sigma Engineers & Constructors is looking for a Capital Project Engineer to support one of our client facilities located in Convent, Louisiana . In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of capital projects that span Asset Sustaining, Opportunity, and Large Capital efforts. The position involves everything from early‑stage project definition through design, estimating, scheduling, procurement, execution, and construction oversight within an active industrial setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required; Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Broad understanding of engineering and construction disciplines is an advantage
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required
  • Familiarity with engineering software tools required
  • Highly organized, self‑motivated, and able to balance multiple priorities
  • Candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered for a lower‑level engineering role
  • Must be capable of working within an active chemical manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience
  • Proven ability to manage projects and resolve technical challenges
  • Experience supporting construction activities within an industrial setting
  • Background in executing projects in operating plants or other brownfield environments
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
  • Demonstrated project leadership and problem‑solving abilities
  • Industrial construction management experience
  • Successful history delivering projects in active operating facilities
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people‑management skills
  • Able to guide, mentor, and oversee technical personnel independently
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
  • Ability to pass background screening.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver capital projects across a range of sizes and complexities
  • Uphold and drive expectations related to safety, scope, schedule, cost, and quality
  • Manage contractors and support a strong, proactive safety culture
  • Oversee project documentation, approvals, reporting, and scheduling updates
  • Provide engineering design input and coordinate with external engineering partners
  • Prepare and maintain cost estimates, project budgets, and forecast updates
  • Build and track project schedules
  • Develop engineering work packages and technical deliverables
  • Oversee field execution and construction activities in an industrial environment
  • Contribute to department‑wide process improvements and best-practice development
  • Support facility and company initiatives focused on safety, production, reliability, and growth
  • Continue technical and professional development while mentoring others, including contractors and craft personnel
