About The Position

The mission of the Interagency Commission on School Construction (IAC) is to achieve a safe, healthy, and educationally sufficient learning environment for every child attending a public school in Maryland. The vision is a fiscally sustainable statewide portfolio of Pre-K-12 school facilities that will remain educationally sufficient for current and future generations of students and teachers. The Senior Capital Projects Manager directly supports agency initiatives involving the work of the Executive Director, Deputy Director, Capital Projects Director, and the Capital Projects team of the IAC, leading correct interpretation and statewide application of practices and procedures determined by the agency. The Capital Projects team closely advises 24 Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and the Maryland School for the Blind regarding all aspects of school facilities planning, delivery, operations, and maintenance such that facilities are effectively and efficiently operated. This position provides advanced technical expertise in the support of the Capital Project Managers team and as required by statute and to achieve the IAC’s mission. Due to the nature of the IAC’s work, this role will involve review and approval of all aspects of school facility planning, design, construction and operations, including review of technical, architectural, and engineering plans and specifications. This position’s work will provide essential information for IAC and LEA staff, as well as other local stakeholders and State level policy makers; allowing for a more robust staff expertise in facilities-portfolio management, total-cost-of-ownership considerations, and school construction policy development.
