About The Position

The Team Leader is responsible for providing program direction, consultation and assistance to direct care staff, and for supervising direct care staff for the successful completion of their duties. As directed by the respective Program Manager, this position will provide input for evaluations and disciplinary action as necessary. The Team Leader will mentor and guide direct care employees on their shift. This position will also work closely with Case Managers and Program Managers as necessary to receive updated information regarding program and treatment plan expectations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services field preferred OR demonstrated experience in a residential or inpatient treatment setting.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to provide verification.
  • Able to pass required Background Checks.
  • Within two months of hire date, completion of in-service training, including but not limited to: Initial 25 hour training in policies and procedures, including emergency procedures, child safety, child abuse and neglect reporting, and applicable licensing requirements.
  • A total of 80 hours direct supervision by another staff member during supervision of residents.
  • Maintenance of current status in all mandatory trainings throughout employment.
  • Completions of all training as listed in Training Requirements Policy 201.

  • Leadership competency and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that house routines, including clean up, are completed during shift.
  • Function as the shift supervisor ensuring program delivery of group and individual strategies that are consistent with therapeutic community values and beliefs.
  • Be knowledgeable of all agency policies and procedures, with particular attention to policies pertaining to client safety.
  • Assure the safety of all residents and know their whereabouts at all times.
  • Participate on the treatment team by providing accurate observations of staff and resident performance.
  • Function as a group advocate for resident groups.
  • Ensure all groups, activities, and individual advocate duties are completed by Youth Mentors assigned to the Team Leader's supervision.
  • Provide de-briefing sessions at the end of each shift to ensure all agency policies and procedures are being followed correctly.
  • Review any behavior modification or treatment strategies being implemented are consistent with therapeutic community norms.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support.
  • Assign and monitor responsibilities of Youth Mentor.
  • Authorize seclusions, room searches, close observations and pick-ups for residents who have eloped and are returning to the program.
  • Arrange for coverage in emergency situations when a worker calls in sick or is delayed, as well as assist the Program Manager with the shift schedule as needed.
  • Monitor shift reports and progress notes daily for timely and accurate reporting of events on the shifts.
  • Meet regularly with the Program Manager for supervision.
  • Participate in training to develop and enhance professional skills.
  • Provide training as needed to Youth Mentors.
  • Participate in Youth Mentors performance evaluations with the Program Manager.
  • Work in coordination with the Therapists and individual advocates ensuring monthly reports are on time and accurate.
  • Facilitate treatment groups as assigned by Program Manager and Therapists.
  • Participate in weekly program development/quality assurance meetings and TL Trainings.
  • Maintain mandatory trainings at all times.
