About The Position

The Canning Line Operator I is responsible for safely setting up, operating, and maintaining the canning line to produce high-quality stuffed cans that meet internal and external customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to perform inspections, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic mechanical ability.
  • Experience with HMI systems.
  • Understanding of 5S principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of ratios, percentages, and bar graphs.
  • Proficient in basic computer use, barcode scanning, and SAP entry.

Responsibilities

  • Safely set up and operate the canning line to produce stuffed cans meeting all quality specifications.
  • Perform daily safety checks on overhead lifting devices.
  • Scan barcodes, log part numbers, and update the warehouse tracking system (SAP) to ensure accurate part and skid location.
  • Perform changeovers and setups, making minor repairs and adjustments as necessary.
  • Complete tasks required by Inspection Reports and properly use gages to verify conformance.
  • Notify Supervisor or Engineer of material discrepancies, defects, or shortages. Support efforts to identify, reduce, or detect critical defects.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the canning line and surrounding area, properly disposing of scrap and waste.
  • Make basic repairs when within skill level. Notify Supervisor if repairs require maintenance work orders and verify equipment functionality after repair.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
