About The Position

This position is located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Cancer Control Specialist II in the Brown Cancer Center will manage the Bowling Green office of the Kentucky Cancer Program, the state mandated cancer control program established by the Kentucky General Assembly, and will be responsible for cancer control initiatives in a seven county district of Kentucky. This individual will also lead specially funded cancer control initiatives in the district and select statewide initiatives. Activities include all components of cancer prevention and early detection programs; patient and family support services; continuing education and training programs for health care providers; and coalitions/partnerships to address cancer problems. Programs are developed in accordance with national, evidence based guidelines.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience or an in-depth specialized training program.
Additional experience may not be used to offset the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

Manage all operations of a regional office for the Kentucky Cancer Program including programming, staffing, financial affairs, physical facilities, supplies and technology.
Develop, deliver, and evaluate education, outreach, and training programs for the public and health care providers including the utilization of virtual technology as well as traditional and social media.
Lead and participate in cancer control coalitions and partnerships to address cancer problems and community needs.
Identify and engage community leaders and stakeholders including medical providers, health systems, the media, businesses, social groups, faith-based communities, government officials, legislators and agencies, etc. to implement cancer control programs, develop partnerships and maintain a District Cancer Council of advisors.
Identify and secure funding through grants, contracts, and sponsorships for local and state cancer initiatives.
Manage funded operations including budgets, deliverables, and reports to funding entities.
Submit district service data to the KCP database.
Identify, monitor and submit district cancer resource data to the KCP Pathfinder database.
Engage national and state partners along with colleagues at UofL and UK to collaborate on special cancer control initiatives for implementation in assigned districts; to develop statewide program plans; and to coordinate contract/grant deliverables.
Work with partners to develop patient support programs based on the needs of the district and secure resources for cancer patients and families.
Develop and implement cancer prevention, screening, and care campaigns utilizing print materials, video, television, radio, newspaper, and social media.
