SUMMARY Responsible for overall operations of assigned business unit managing all daily activities and long-term objectives for their department, in conjunction with supervisors/managers across shifts or departments. Manages assigned business unit planning scheduling and production functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations. Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications. Resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards. Provides proactive, efficient, and reliable leadership for assigned shift supervisors; ensures safety, quality, GMP compliance, work rules and collaborative efforts across the production lines. Initiates resolution of technical, unusual, or complex problems or issues and escalates appropriately. Ensure manufacturing is within customer specifications and quality standards are strictly adhered to. Monitor process improvement analysis and make recommendations to improve the manufacturing process and process control. Organizes resources to ensure effective production of goods and/or services. Gives work direction, resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work. Evaluates current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives to develop and implement improved procedures and practices. Ensures adequate training of staff and employee compliance to organization's policies and practices. Coordinates activities of department with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy. Monitors and analyzes costs and prepares department budget. Prepares reports and records on department activities for management. May initiate or authorize employee hire, promotion, discharge, or transfer. Food Safety Responsible and required to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues; and empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work. If this position is vacant for any significant period of time the obligation for completion of all food safety and quality related tasks will become the responsibility of the direct manager or a qualified designee.
