About The Position

Manage, assist and coordinate the efforts of technical staff charged with all aspects of technology at assigned campus. This includes, but is not limited to conference centers, meeting rooms, classrooms, labs, off site events, and offices. Assist with the coordination and implementation of technology projects in assigned areas. Coordinate the installation and repair of computers, software, and related peripherals. Assist with networking, telecommunications, and software/hardware support upon request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and four (4) years related work experience required.
  • One (1) year of supervisor experience required.
  • Knowledge of network topology

Nice To Haves

  • Industry-recognized certification in Technology and Media.
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution. Six (6) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • NOTE: Current Collin College employees who meet all other job requirements, but who do not have supervisory experience, must successfully complete supervisory training within the first year of entering this position to satisfy the minimum supervisory requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of technology specialists at assigned campus.
  • Schedule technicians to ensure proper support and coverage for classes and events.
  • Oversee and manage assigned team’s documentation of inventory, active directory containers, tickets, and knowledge base articles.
  • Lead district-wide committees for technology initiatives as assigned.
  • Familiar with ITIL framework components to improve efficiency.
  • Effectively screen, interview, and hire for open positions on assigned team.
  • Collaborate with faculty and technology supervisors to ensure proper equipment, software and processes in assigned areas are in optimum condition.
  • Coordinate resources for, as well as provide technical support and services to the college community ensuring all classes, equipment and community events (both on and off Collin College campuses) run efficiently.
  • Maintain regular contact with faculty and staff to monitor level of service provided by assigned technology support team.
  • Properly document all tickets in ticketing system.
  • Act as first point of contact for provost/executive dean regarding technology on assigned campus.
  • Manage projects obtaining to new installations, upgrades, and repairs of computers and audio-visual equipment, which includes obtaining quotes, manage and coordinate installation and services from inception to completion.
  • Remediate security threats reported by the Security Department.
  • Assist students, faculty, staff and vendors with all computer, Internet, wireless access, printing and media issues.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and audio-visual problems.
  • Assist with networking, telecommunications, and software/hardware support upon request.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, develop specifications and make recommendations for necessary acquisitions of new equipment.
  • Integrate new technologies into existing structure of classrooms, offices and conference centers.
  • Maintain accurate records on software, hardware, equipment utilization and problems.
  • Maintain familiarity with and ensure compliance with district policies and procedures to ensure copyright laws are not violated.
  • Follow standards, rules, regulations and orders for electrical and mechanical equipment at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
