About The Position

The Jr/Sr High Campus Safety Monitor is responsible for supervising various areas within the school environment, including hallways, cafeteria, gymnasium, bathrooms, locker rooms, and parking lots. This position reports directly to the Principal and is accountable for the proper interpretation and performance of the assigned duties. The role involves monitoring student behavior, ensuring adherence to school policies, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Skill in dealing with children and youths with behavioral and/or emotional problems
• Experience in overseeing the activities of teenagers is desirable
• Good judgment, mental alertness, good powers of observation, tact, and courtesy
• Physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in various settings
• Monitor student behavior and movement
• Hold students, staff, and visitors accountable for school policy
• Communicate with staff regarding attendance, truancy, tardiness, and behavioral issues
• Refer concerns to administrators in a timely manner
• Assist and cooperate with other supervisors
• Maintain policies on attendance, food, drink, behavior, passes, and study environment
• Maintain accurate records as required
• Check student bathrooms, locker rooms, and other areas
• Assist in searching lockers and vehicles when requested by an Administrator
• Operate radio communication system
• Communicate effectively with students and school personnel
• Understand basic math for record keeping
• Implement enforceable hall rules with students and staff
• Reason with students and staff
• Anticipate problems and disruptive situations and diffuse them
• Move quickly to cover areas needing assistance
• Physically separate and/or restrain students if necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned
