About The Position

As a Campus Security Officer, you play a vital role in keeping our campus safe and welcoming. In this position, you will: Protect life and property by maintaining a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Enforce campus regulations as well as local, state, and federal laws. Maintain order and respond to incidents, ensuring a calm and safe atmosphere. Prevent and investigate crime, using your training and judgment to resolve issues effectively. Requirements

• High School graduation or equivalent
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• No previous felony convictions
• Two years of police or campus security experience or other related experience
• Ability to work a schedule of rotating shifts throughout the year, which will include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
• This position has been designated by the department to require a background check, motor vehicle records check, and WSP WATCH.
• Obtain certification in defensive techniques and equipment within six months of initial hire. Periodic re-certification to maintain currency is required.
• Possess current First Aid and AED/CPR certification or obtain certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Certification from the Criminal Justice Training Commission.
• Be able to obtain a Law Enforcement Commission; a Spokane Police Department limited commission.
