About The Position

The Campus Security Monitor at Tartan Elementary School is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students and staff under the supervision of school administration. This role involves active patrolling of the school premises, monitoring student behavior, and intervening in situations that may disrupt the educational process or pose safety risks. The position requires effective communication and collaboration with law enforcement, school staff, and the community to ensure a secure learning environment.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent (GED, foreign equivalency, etc.).
  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • Valid driver's license or state-issued identification card.
  • Current CPR/AED certificate from a recognized organization.
  • Current Clark County School District Campus Security Monitor certificate, if already acquired.

  • Professional work experience with children and youth.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol school corridors, locker rooms, restrooms, and other areas to observe student behavior and prevent rule violations.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security and monitor closed buildings for unauthorized persons.
  • Maintain alertness for problems that may disrupt the educational process or be injurious to persons/property.
  • Approach individuals entering school grounds to provide assistance and ensure proper authorization.
  • Observe and monitor student behavior outside the classroom.
  • Intervene in situations likely to result in disruption/injury and impose consequences for misconduct.
  • Maintain positive relationships with law enforcement, school staff, students, and parents/guardians.
  • Notify administrators of bullying incidents, gang activities, and threats of harm.
  • Assist in emergency response plans such as fire drills and lockdowns.
  • Refer students to administration for repeated violations of school policies.
  • Operate a two-way radio to communicate with the school office and security personnel.
  • Diffuse threatening situations positively and constructively.
  • Administer CPR/AED when necessary.
  • Prepare Student Incident Reports and witness statements as needed.
  • Operate security surveillance cameras and conform to safety standards.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
