About The Position

The Campus Safety Officer (CSO) at Ursinus College is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for the college community. This full-time position requires working nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as attending mandatory training and special events. CSOs act as first responders to critical incidents, manage emergency response procedures, and provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional demeanor. The role emphasizes teamwork and interpersonal skills to foster a safe learning environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills
  • Understanding of higher education setting and ability to work with persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive patrols of buildings, facilities, properties, and other assets via foot, bike, or motorized vehicle.
  • Respond to all incidents on campus, including medical emergencies, mental health crises, fire alarms, and burglary alarms.
  • Respond to calls for service such as escorts, jump starts, lockouts, thefts, and vandalism.
  • Conduct initial investigations, collect witness statements, and photograph scenes.
  • Complete detailed, clear, and concise incident reports.
  • Perform the opening and closing of all campus buildings.
  • Provide parking enforcement.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Act as a Campus Security Authority as designated under the Jeanne Clery Act of 1990.
