About The Position

The Ohlone Community College District is seeking a dedicated Campus Safety Officer to join its Campus Police Services team. This full-time position is essential for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors across the Fremont Campus and Newark Center. The Campus Safety Officer will be responsible for monitoring and patrolling District facilities, responding to alarms, and enforcing laws and regulations to protect persons and property. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion, ensuring that all individuals feel safe and welcome on campus. This role requires a high level of integrity, professionalism, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic college setting, including a flexible schedule that may involve evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Campus Safety Officer will work under the direction of a police administrator, conducting foot, bicycle, and vehicular patrols to preserve law and order. Responsibilities include responding to service calls, investigating incidents, maintaining logs, and coordinating with local police departments during emergencies. The officer will also engage with the community to promote safety and address issues of equity, particularly for historically minoritized groups. The position requires the ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and meet regulatory deadlines while fostering positive relationships within the college community. Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of experience in public or private security, military security, or law enforcement. They must also pass a background investigation and meet all other requirements set forth by the Ohlone Community College District Campus Police Services. The college values diversity and seeks individuals who are responsive to the varied backgrounds of its student population. This position is funded by categorical funds, and employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds. The job posting will remain open until filled, and the District reserves the right to hire one or more candidates from the applicant pool.
