About The Position

The Campus Safety Lead Supervisor is the advanced level of work responsible for the safety and security of persons, and property on Goucher’s campus. These responsibilities are carried out through patrol (foot or mobile or a combination of both), or fixed post assignments. An employee in this classification also has supervisory responsibilities respective to their designated assigned shift(s). This is an essential personnel position. Employees will be assigned to evening, night, or rotating shifts, which may include holidays and weekends. Employees may be subject to call- in and overtime based on staffing needs and will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Employees in this position must be willing and available for duty at all hours, day or night, and are required to remain or report for duty at all hours as needed to maintain the continuous operation of this agency.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • 2 years of Safety/Security
  • In accordance with Maryland Senate Bill 760 (2023), any individual employed as a security guard or loss prevention personnel must be licensed as a security guard. Employment in this role is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a valid Maryland Security Guard Certification.
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA.

Responsibilities

  • Primary response to all campus emergencies and some service calls.
  • Manages weekly schedule for all non-exempt staff and assists Operations Manager with traffic enforcement.
  • Assists with training compliance records.
  • Reads, comprehends and adheres to all Campus Safety Standard Operating Procedures, and rules of Conduct and issues discipline to employees who are in violation of said procedures.
  • Send emergency notifications via the E2 campus alert system to the Campus Community during critical events as approved by Director/Asst. Director.
  • Observes and reports in written form all emergencies involving community members and visitors.
  • Reports hazards or maintenance issues in order to minimize loss or damage to property and equipment in written form.
  • Responsible for making necessary notifications to management.
  • Conduct regular audits of Advocate/Maxient Reports, Daily Blotter and approve shift status report before the end of each shift.
  • Ensure department issued equipment is accounted for at the beginning and end of each shift and conduct uniform inspections of staff.
  • Communicate and maintain good relationships with faculty, staff, students, other law enforcement agencies and public officials.
