About The Position

This position oversees and implements university safety and security policies to create a safe and secure environment for the university community both day-to-day and during event operations. This position also plays a key role in establishing and strengthening relationships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders through providing exemplary customer service. May be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.

Requirements

• Using computer software and applications including word-processing software, spreadsheets, email and internet
• Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
• Following documented policies and procedures
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be able to work a non-standard schedule to meet the needs of the department

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of safety and security operations and best practices
• One year experience as a safety/security officer
• Demonstrated competence with written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Conduct general security patrol on campus and at events and report emergencies to university, city or state officials
• Assist with Safe Walks, extra patrol requests, building lockouts and on-call notifications
• Enforce university alcohol policies
• Monitor access control, check credentials, check tickets and enforce clear bag requirements
• Other duties as assigned
