About The Position

As a Campus Ambassador, you are a representative of the of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. This position helps develop key cross-functional skills, such as multi-tasking, public speaking, and problem solving, and is a unique leadership opportunity. You make the first impression on prospective students and families, and play a huge role in the Admissions and Recruitment process. Campus Ambassadors build and maintain relationships with future, current, and past Pointers by assisting with office responsibilities, leading tours, and assisting professional staff at recruitment events. Office Responsibilities: Campus Ambassadors assist the Office of Admissions and Recruitment by completing designated administrative tasks such as answering the phone, welcoming prospective students and their families, managing daily front desk operations, collating visit materials, and more. Maintaining a positive and professional image in all situations is required. Ambassadors will learn how to use various software programs and will frequently use technology. Tour Guide Responsibilities: UW-Stevens Point welcomes thousands of visitors throughout the academic year and summer months. Campus Ambassadors are responsible for interacting with prospective students, their families, and other campus visitors. Information will be relayed to guests mainly during a walking tour of campus, but additional opportunities may require Ambassadors to interact with visitors in a variety of settings. Campus tours are 90-minutes and are offered Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with weekend events each month.

Nice To Haves

  • Fun, outgoing, and passionate about UW-Stevens Point
  • Excellent public speaking skills and communicate accurately and effectively
  • Comfortable with public speaking in both small and large group settings- Comfortable speaking with potential students and families in 1:1 settings
  • Previous experience working with various backgrounds and populations
  • Maintain an inclusive mindset and language
  • Knowledge of UWSP's main campus, branch campuses, and campus resources
  • Ability to maintain high morals, values, and integrity
  • Ability to work on tasks and front desk with minimal supervision
  • Ability to address sensitive concerns of students and parents in a confidential, professional, and tactful manner
  • Ability to foster an open, friendly, and engaging environment that supports and respects the diverse needs of students
