Camp staff assist and lead groups of campers in various camp programs and activities each day. Camp staff are responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group. Camp Staff will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our staff are the backbone of our summer programs here at the Y. We pride ourselves on giving staff an incredible amount of support during training and throughout the summer. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of college completed in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in working with children.
  • Experience hiring, training & supervising staff is preferred.
  • Demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and dedication.
  • Experience working with youth in a group setting, and creating and implementing lesson plans.
  • CPR and First Aid certified prior to employment.
  • Ability to communicate and listen effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and use YMCA specific software.
  • Understanding of YMCA mission and cause is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Multi-lingual ability.
  • Evidence of work towards a graduate degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and lead groups of campers in various camp programs and activities.
  • Ensure the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of participants.
  • Provide high quality educational and recreational experiences focusing on the Y's core values.
  • Support and train staff throughout the summer.
