About The Position

The Camp Texlake Assistant Manager of Operations ensures the effective operation of Camp Texlake by leading logistics, food service management, facility preparedness, and operational staffing. In partnership with the Camp Texlake Manager, this role ensures adherence to organizational policies, safety protocols, and accreditation standards. The position plays a vital role in maintaining a well‑run, mission‑aligned camp environment that supports outstanding camper and guest experiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in recreational program planning, youth development, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and exercise sound decision‑making.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends). Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering excellent customer service and responsiveness.
  • Knowledge of statistical reporting, record keeping and scheduling.
  • Proven ability to effectively resolve a variety of issues within established policies, procedures, guidelines and sound judgement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook or similar productivity software.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple staff and activities simultaneously.
  • Commitment to the mission and philosophy of Girl Scouting at both the national and local levels.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and foster an inclusive environment.
  • Ability to drive a council vehicle or a personal vehicle; therefore, the individual must, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
  • Required to have the following certifications or obtain in first 30 days of employment -  First Aid/CPR, Lifeguarding, Food Handler, and Water Safety Instructor, and GSCTX Youth Protection Training.
  • Satisfactory results from a criminal background check and motor vehicle history check.
  • Must reside on-site in shared housing during the nine weeks of summer camp.
  • Membership in GSUSA is required annually.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all daily camp logistics, including kitchen operations, scheduling, staff management, facilities readiness, and reporting in partnership with the Camp Texlake Manager.
  • Ensure camp facilities are guest‑ready by overseeing restocking, cleanliness, and the condition of equipment, appliances, and resources.
  • Oversee the safe operation and staffing of the pool.
  • Lead the daily, weekly, and end‑of‑season cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Oversee all food service operations, including ordering, inventory, meal preparation logistics, staff scheduling, and compliance with dietary restrictions and special food needs.
  • Ensure food service is delivered to Girl Scout standards and meets all health and safety regulations.
  • Partner with the Camp Services Director, Assistant Manager of Programs, Human Resources, and other departments to recruit, train, and retain seasonal operations staff.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, guidance, mentorship, and support to operational staff.
  • Collaborate consistently on scheduling and programming with the Assistant Manager of Programs and the Assistant Manager of Equestrian Programs.
  • Maintain strong, effective communication across the camp management team to support a cohesive work environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model and encourage a camp culture rooted in professionalism, teamwork, inclusivity, and Girl Scout values.
  • Work with the Retail team to coordinate Trading Post logistics during summer camp.
  • Collaborate with the Camp Ranger and Camp Manager to support Friends of Camp volunteer workdays.
  • Support programming operations as needed to ensure seamless overall camp functioning.
  • Ensure all operations comply with GSCTX policies, ACA standards, Health Department regulations, and Safety Activity Checkpoints.
  • Enforce safety regulations, risk‑management protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with annual ACA preparation and the accreditation visit conducted every five years.
  • Uphold confidentiality, professional conduct, and integrity at all times.
  • Provide high‑quality customer service that resolves concerns promptly and courteously.
  • Build positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff to support a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
  • Participate in general camp life, including check‑in/check‑out, all‑camp events, themed meals, cookouts, and meal‑time responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
