About The Position

Join the YMCA team this summer and make a difference in your community! As a Camp Assistant, you’ll support a dynamic camp program focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience working with children in a fun, active, and supportive environment. Camp Assistants are exposed to all aspects of camp operations—from activity setup and camper engagement to organizing supplies and supporting themed events.

Requirements

• Enthusiastic, dependable, and responsible individuals
• Ability to remain calm, flexible, and positive in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for working with children and helping them grow
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to stay active and engaged throughout the full camp day
• Must have completed at least 2 years of high school
• Ability to lead and participate in activities in both indoor and outdoor settings
• Must be able to stay active for the duration of the camp day

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working with children preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup and breakdown of daily camp activities, including morning programs and hobby time
• Support lunch supervision, cleanup, and overall camp organization
• Participate in theme days, special events, and camper engagement activities
• Help supervise campers and contribute to a safe, fun, and inclusive environment
• Maintain organization and inventory of camp supplies
• Follow YMCA policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Build positive relationships with campers and staff
• Provide additional support as directed by Camp Leadership
