About The Position

Works cooperatively with staff in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities themed around teaching ages 7-12 theatre & dance performance skills aimed toward showcasing their abilities in a musical theatre production during the final week of each (2) 4-week camp sessions. The dance specialist coordinates with theatre and music specialists on managing auditions, scheduling rehearsal curriculum and also with technical specialists of each production. He/she works closely with all specialists, camp director and supervisor to bring these elements together, makes suggestions on purchases needed and makes every effort to stay within the production budget set by the supervisor. Dance Specialist adheres to and actively enforces safety procedures of the District and its overall management program. The Dance Specialist shall work closely and cooperatively with other members of the District to insure a coordinated program format. Performs other assignments as required. This is a seasonal summer day camp position. Camp begins June 8, 2026 through July 31, 2026. Generally hours: 9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. To be considered for this position, you must be available to attend a training sessions which are scheduled in the week prior to camp as well as 1-2 production meetings in the latter part of May. Special accommodations for time off will be considered if they are communicated during the interview process and if it is determined that it will not in any way detract from the program. In addition, staff must attend meetings, training sessions and camp performance nights as directed. One additonal week of camp from August 2-7, 2026 might also have openings as well. This job falls in paygrade PT5. The target hiring range for this position is $17.00 - $19.5 depending on qualifications. Requirements

  • Must be a mature, responsible adult, at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to choreograph musical theatre for casts of up to 40 youth
  • Must be responsible, creative and enjoy working with young children ages 7-12
  • available to attend a training sessions which are scheduled in the week prior to camp as well as 1-2 production meetings in the latter part of May
  • staff must attend meetings, training sessions and camp performance nights as directed

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience teaching/choregraphing dance for children’s theatre preferred
  • Performing Arts Summer camp employment experience preferred
  • Prefer candidate with a degree in performing arts, dance or a related field
