About The Position

The Camp Site Director supervises Camp Counselors, while coordinating the daily activities and operations of designated summer camp site. The Camp Site Director creates a positive and safe environment for all campers and staff.

Requirements

  • Experience and/or training working with children preferred.
  • Attendance at J Camp staff training is required unless approval to train separately is granted in writing by the Camp Director.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children, through an approved certifying body, or willingness to get certified.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibilities for children under their care to ensure a positive and safe experience.
  • Create, Implement and uphold camp schedules.
  • Actively supervise Camp Counselors at your designated site.
  • Participate in mid-summer evaluations
  • Ensure the safety, health and welfare of campers and staff by providing a safe camp environment and immediately and appropriately responding to any incidents, illnesses or situations that arise.
  • Review health forms and share pertinent information about campers with the appropriate staff, while ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
  • Create camper groupings, in accordance with camper friend requests for your designated site.
  • Responsible for parent and caregiver communication, including phone calls, in-person conversations, and emails at the discretion of the Camp Director.
  • Manage and verify camper attendance for your site.
  • Support the emotional and social wellbeing of the campers through positive behavior management, supportive interactions, and conflict resolution.
  • Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Camp staff team, both verbally and in writing.
  • Participate in budgeting for your designated site.
  • Immediately inform the Camp Director of any concerns that arise with campers, staff, parents/guardians or community members.
  • Communicate regularly with Camp Director and other members of the camp leadership team; share recommendations and/or concerns with the Camp Director
  • Follow emergency procedures of hosts' site.
  • Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC
  • Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC
  • Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
