About The Position

Safely transport campers, staff members, and volunteers as needed. Drivers use cars, minivans, and 12 passenger vans driving in rural, city, and open interstate conditions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age (in order to drive rented/leased vehicles)
  • Must possess a valid class E or higher Missouri Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 1-3 or more years of verifiable experience in driving.
  • Must be able to pass a mandated physical and a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle records check.
  • Must have the ability to comfortably and safely drive a car, minivan, or 12 passenger van in city traffic, on the interstate, and in rural areas.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends depending on the needs of the camp.
  • Must be able to read and follow instructions easily and to read and understand directions and maps.
  • Must have good personal hygiene and good customer service skills and demonstrate a positive demeanor.
  • Must have the ability to interact personally with campers, staff, volunteers and families, demonstrating good customer service to include patience, positive attitude and responding appropriately to questions.
  • Have cell phone service plan to be able to be on an “on call basis” for emergency needs.

Responsibilities

  • Transport campers and staff to hospital, Doctors appointments, airports, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections prior to starting any vehicle.
  • Post-trip, inspect for lost items and campers prior to parking.
  • Report any service needs of the vehicles to Transportation Director.
  • Assist administrative personnel and parents in promoting a positive relationship between the camp, campers, and parents.
  • Secures campers adaptive equipment (i.e.: wheelchairs, etc.).
  • Assist in evacuation procedures during emergencies and evacuation drills.
  • Responsible to keep vehicles clean and full of fuel.
  • Maintain accountability and responsibility for gas cards.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
