About The Position

The Wisconsin Annual Conference invites applications for the Camp Retreat Coordinator position at Lake Lucerne Camp & Retreat Center. This role provides leadership for Lake Lucerne’s retreat ministry by overseeing hospitality operations, coordinating services for retreat groups, and promoting the use of facilities year-round. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, team-oriented professional with a strong commitment to hospitality, relationship-building, and retreat excellence. Lake Lucerne serves faith-based, community, and corporate groups by offering meaningful retreat experiences in a welcoming and well-managed environment. The Camp Retreat Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring exceptional service delivery while supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of the retreat ministry. The Camp Retreat Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for retreat groups from booking through follow-up, ensuring clear communication, high-quality service, and memorable guest experiences. This role actively markets Lake Lucerne to expand year-round usage and increase financial sustainability, while also assisting with general operations as needed to support staff and retreat success. The Camp Retreat Coordinator reports to the Director of Connectional Ministries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, camp leadership, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience in hospitality, sales, marketing, or camp/retreat ministry environments.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality hospitality services.
  • Comfortable communicating with diverse populations, including LGBTQ communities, the Hmong community, and people of other faiths.
  • Outgoing and confident, with the ability to represent the retreat ministry and engage in outreach, including cold calls.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn a wide range of skills critical to successful camp operations.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to assist in any area of need.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations, enforce safety rules, and respond to guest concerns professionally.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies, including digital marketing and social media.
  • Proficient in computer and web-based systems.
  • Ability to pass a national background check.
  • Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate hospitality staff by coordinating daily retreat operations, ensuring facilities are prepared, meals and services are scheduled, and all equipment and resources are available to meet group expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for retreat groups from booking through arrival by assessing needs, clarifying expectations, and coordinating staff and resources to ensure promised outcomes are delivered.
  • Maintain regular communication with groups during their stay to confirm satisfaction, ensure contracted services are provided, and address concerns promptly through real-time problem solving.
  • Actively market Lake Lucerne’s facilities and services to United Methodist Conference groups, faith-based organizations, and community or corporate clients to expand year-round utilization and increase revenue.
  • Follow up with retreat groups after their stay to gather feedback, discuss future opportunities, and build strong relationships that encourage repeat bookings and long-term loyalty.
  • Assist with kitchen, housekeeping, and maintenance duties during peak seasons or overlapping group schedules to support team operations and ensure all retreat needs are met.
